GamePad/HID:
The game pad mode utilizes a standard HID protocol developed in conjunction with NVidia and utilized by a wide assortment of today’s Android developers. Once synced, games that support game pads will easily be controlled by the PlayPad including menu navigation and gameplay. This mode is compatible with a  growing list of games available on the Google Play Store and the NVidia Tegra Zone.  Try Gamepad mode with games like Grand Theft Auto 3, Sonic 4, Wind-Up knight and Rip Tide GT

Mouse Mode:
Quickly navigate through your Android device like you would your PC with mouse mode. Once selected, a cursor will appear on your screen that you can control with the left analog stick while the action buttons activate a “mouse click.” Use this mode to navigate through web sites and presentations with ease. Mouse mode can also be used for select games including Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja.

iCade Mode:
iCade mode is for use exclusively on iOS powered devices including the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Once the Playpad is synced to your iOS device, you’ll be able to control 100’s of iOS games with ease. Control games such as Pac-Man, Paper Monsters, Temple Run, and more.

App Mode:
App mode works with Nyko\'s free Playground app to easily customize and create custom controller profiles for numerous Android games. With Playground you can easily assign keyboard commands to specific buttons on to the PlayPad. The Playground app also scans your device and lets you know what PlayPad compatible games you already have installed, while letting you easily find and download new games you can play with the controller.

What is HID?
In reference to PlayPad, HID refers to the gamepad protocol developed in conjunction with NVidia to allow for built in support for controllers in today’s top android games.

Can I use Playground with any Bluetooth controller?
No. Playground is developed for use exclusively with Nyko PlayPad devices.

No, both HID/Gamepad mode and mouse mode are 100% compatible without the Playground App.

My phone/tablet runs a Samsung/HTC/Asus etc skinned version of Android, will the PlayPad still work?
Yes. The PlayPad will work on “skinned” versions of Android as long as they are running Android 3.0 or higher, have Bluetooth and have access to the Google Play Store.

How is the PlayPad powered? Does it require batteries?
The PlayPad is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery, no disposable batteries are required

How do I charge the PlayPad?
The PlayPad comes with a USB to Micro USB dongle allowing you to easily charge the controller from any powered USB port. Any Micro USB cable can also be used to recharge the PlayPad.

What’s the difference between the PlayPad and PlayPad Pro?
The PlayPad is a smaller, travel ready controller that comes with a stand and specialized hard carry case. The PlayPad Pro is a full sized console style controller. The PlayPad Pro features 2 analog sticks, while the PlayPad features 2 analog sliders. Functionality wise, they will both work identically to one another.

Can I use the PlayPad on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or other gaming consoles?
No. The PlayPad will not work with other gaming consoles

Will the PlayPad work on PC or Mac?
Yes. The PlayPad is recognized as either a GamePad or a Mouse in either GamePad or Mouse mode. To use the PlayPad in GamePad mode, the software must support gamepad input. Please check your software manual for details on gamepad support. In Mouse mode, the PlayPad will allow you to move the cursor, and right and left mouse click.

Does the PlayPad work with my iPhone or iPad?
Yes, the PlayPad line of controllers can sync with your iOS device in iCade™ mode and be used to play any iCade compatible game. (iCade is a registered trademark of Thing Geek Inc)

What’s iCade?

When can we expect Touch Mapping?
Our latest update to the Playground app does not include any Touch Mapping support. Nyko's orginal solution for Touch Mapping was mmade incompatible following the Android 4.1 update due to changes in the Android operating system. We are still working on a solution that will allow for Touch Mapping support, but it is taking longer than orginally expected due to the aforementioned reasons. We understand this is a much sought after feature and we appreciate your patience as we conitnue to work on it. We will keep users updated on all changes.
